Health
This benefit is also cost shared with the employer. It provides Insurance protection for many Health Insurance products and services such as Prescription Drugs, Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, and Vision Care.
Dental
This Insurance protection is 100% premium paid by the member. It provides Dental coverage for many Dental services including cleanings, fillings, regular maintenance, and root canals. It also provides coverage for Crowns.
Travel
It is critical that members not travel outside the country without adequate Travel Insurance protection. The NLTA has arranged very competitive comprehensive out of Province/Country Travel Insurance protection for NLTA members and their families.
Life
The NLTA Basic Life Insurance coverage is cost shared with the employer. Members also have extra Voluntary Term Life available for Teachers and Spouses upon application to the Insurer. This extra Voluntary coverage is available at a very competitive group premium and is 100% member paid.
Accident
The NLTA Basic Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage is cost shared with the employer. Members can access additional low cost Voluntary AD&D coverage also for themselves and eligible family members that is 100% member paid.
Disability
This coverage provides very important Long Term Disability income protection for members. The monthly benefit of 66.67% of gross monthly earnings (or 85% of net monthly earnings if less) is eligible after sick leave runs out, or expiration of 30 days, whichever is later. The coverage and benefit is available up to age 60. The premium is 100% member paid and any benefit payable is non-taxable. This benefit also tops up Workers Compensation benefits payable to 85% of net earnings for injuries that occur at work.
